Wedding Workout

My wedding is next year and I really don't want to have to let my dress out...After being a wedding photographer for 12 years I've seen it all. My worst nightmare is to have to be sewn into my dress because it burst open at the seams.

I went to my first dress fitting and it totally didn't fit! Sending it back just wasn't an option...and besides it wasn't all for loss. I had eaten like 3 pizza dinners with desert in the last month.  So without hesitation I hired a personal trainer. So here's a little of my plan (because we all need accountability) so I can be tip top picture perfect shape for the wedding!

So when I told my wedding gown designer that I love his design but I would like to make only a few changes...like cut it up dramatically (It had all the right lines just not exactly the right cut) I'm sure he rolled his eyes in his Italian studio and thought to himself "If she wants to mess with my design I'm gonna make that bitch lose 10 lbs."

EATS:

Atkins has always been the lifestyle that I've fall back into when I'm trying to make the changes I want to see. I've tried eating clean and low fat in the past...neither of those have ever worked for me. I heard from a friend of mine recently that type O blood types respond well to Atkins styled diet. Ah! That's me! So I looked it up on Google...and this is what the "all knowing" Google had to say:

Unlike the other blood typesType Os muscle tissue should be slightly on the acid side. Type Os can efficiently digest and metabolize meat because they tend to have high stomach-acid content. The success of the Type O Diet depends on the use of lean, chemical-free meats, poultry, and fish.

We like to go out and eat so this just means now I'll be most interested in trying all the best salads in Houston. So if you have a favorite salad place let me know!

'Everyday is leg day! 3 sets of 70 squats per day keeps "mom butt" away. Those mom jeans can wait!'

ACTIVITY:
I'm scheduled to workout with a trainer for twice a week. I'll do my own works outs including cardio and anything that involves my legs and belly area...I'll do this between those training dates and take the weekends off to play with the kids and hang out with my love

DRINKING:

Cutting back on the ole' vino. Yep. That's right. This gal loves her CHLOE Chardonnay.  It doesn't mean I'll stop all together but just less glasses per week. And substitute it with water (with added lemons for cleansing). Lots and lots of water. I've recycled a jug to tell me how much water to drink by what hour.
I'll also will do my cleansing cocktail from My Fit Foods at least once a week (it tastes horrible and I can't stomach it everyday).

MIND + SOUL:
With all the hard work and concentration I'm putting into my body it's important to remember my mind and soul too. I plan to continue monthly massages, spa treatments, and my love for listening to books. I'm not going to lie...I really don't have time for reading, but I wouldn't be able to live without Audible.com. And with the holidays approaching ALL moms know that it gets insanely hectic. So this means saying "no" to ridiculous commitments like meetings about future meetings or struggle to figure out how to attend two to three holiday parties in one day. The hardest thing about being a mom is being pulled in every way on the daily basis. So I'm giving myself permission to say "no" without feeling completely guilty...just a little guilty, just not guilty enough.

And the most important of all...I want to feel the energy I use to have to help me get through the day, naturally!  This lifestyle gave me the energy and focus to play outside more with the kids a lot more. My family is my whole life and everything to me and all this is that much more worth the effort than anything else!

Gosh, I love those kids, but I just knew I had to get back to myself. Getting to the gym just wasn't happening for me anymore. A common mom problem. I had always been athletic and lean build and in my twenties you could find me at the gym 5 days a week. Living in this metropolitan city things move a lot faster. Each of my 3 kids go to 3 different schools. One in Pre-K, one in elementary, and one in middle school. Needless to say, school drop off and pick up is nearly 3 hours long making my kidless time shorter. Did I mention I work full time? I own my own portrait studio in downtown Houston. I could go on and on about my #momproblems but it really just boils down to making excuses for myself. No more!
